APHC urges India to give up obduracy on Kashmir
Pakistan Times Jammu & Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has urged India to give up its intransigent stance and take concrete measures to settle the Kashmir dispute, reports KMS.

Senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmir is a disputed territory and the resolution of the long-standing dispute was vital to the peace and stability in South Asia.

He emphasised to resume the dialogue process on Kashmir between India and Pakistan. The people of Kashmir will continue their legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination till its logical end, he added.

Recalling Indian pledges to give Kashmiris their right to self-determination, he said that a long period of 63 years had passed but India had not fulfilled its obligations in this regard.

He denounced the use of brute force against the peaceful protestors by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

And, senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, addressing a public gathering in Budgam, said that India should accept ground realities and initiate the talks to settle the dispute once for all.

Meanwhile, another report says;  frequent frisking by Indian troops and police personnel in the run up to India’s Republic Day on January 26 has irked the people of the territory.

The troops have intensified security arrangements ahead of January 26 celebrations. Like in the past, the residents of the surrounding areas of Bakhshi Stadium, the venue of the official event in Srinagar, are facing immense difficulties.

Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has conducted search operations in many areas of Srinagar while the frisking of pedestrians and vehicles too has been intensified. The roads leading towards Bakhshi Stadium have been barricaded.

The stringent security measures have also been taken by the occupation authorities at the railway station, bus stands, airport and MA Stadium in Jammu.
