Pakistan Times Business & Commerce Desk

KARACHI: Pakistan is likely to get dollars 1.2 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December. This was stated by Federal Finance Minister, Shaukat Tarin, on Friday night.

Talking to mediamen at Karachi Airport on arrival here from Islamabad, he
referred to the ongoing negotiations with the IMF.

After our discussions, the IMF team would take this proposal to their Board and if this is approved in December then Inshallah we expect to get 1.2 billion dollars in the month of December, he remarked adding that this is being done under the programme.

Replying to a question, he said that for those industries that get
less gas we have suggested that they should be given gas for five days and for remaining two days of the week they should stay  closed.

This, he added, is part of the proposal for the diversion of the gas.
Shaukat Tarin said that  the government desires to support the productive side of the economy.

Accordingly, he stated, efforts have been made to extend support to the industry inspite of the shortage of the gas.

He said that like industry there would also be two days off for the CNG. The government, he said has considerably accommodated the CNG industry.
