WASHINGTON (US): The U.S. Acting Secretary of Defense William Lynn has assured President Asif Ali Zardari that his country will meet the security needs of Pakistan, to enable it defeat militancy and promote peace and security in the region.

“U.S will continue to support Pakistan in fight against insurgency,” he said in a meeting with President Zardari. 

Appreciating  Pakistan’s critical role in this fight, William Lynn affirmed that the US will help strengthen Pakistan’s conventional capability. President Zardari called for respecting Pakistan’s  domestic sensitivities and strengthening its institutions.
