| Train service restored 'Pakistan Times' Sindh Bureau KARACHI: The railway track that broke down due to freight trains’ collision has been repaired after 15 hours of efforts. State Minister for Railways Jadim Mangrio visited the site of accident and expressed satisfaction over the relief work. He directed that the inquiry ordered into the accident be expeditiously carried out and responsibility be fixed. The Divisional Superintendent Railway Aftab Memon, who stayed at the site of accident told that General Manager Railway has ordered a Deputy Principle Officer inquiry into the accident. Normal railway traffic was restored on Karachi-Hyderabad main railway line after the derailed wagons of the Muzaffargarh-bound oil special were derailed as it was hit by another oil special coming from behind outside Kotri railway station. The down track was cleared for train movement at 5 am and the up track at 8 am after the derailed wagons were lifted aside and the track repaired. A committee headed by Deputy Personnel Officer (DPO) has been constituted to probe the mishap, he informed. The inquiry team will comprise of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Deputy Chief Operation and Deputy Chief Civil Engineering. Aftab Memon, claimed to have repaired the effected railway track near Kotri, saying the train service on the track has been restored now. He said the delayed trains bound to interior Sindh from Karachi will be passed on the track in first phase while the train, meant for providing helping hand in rescue work in Kotri, has arrived here. DS Railways said this mishap affected the schedules of trains and now we will leave no stone unturned to fix the delays. He has said the accident of freight trains was caused due to negligence rendered by the engine driver Muhammad Shahid and fireman while two have been sacked over committing delinquencies. He said the freight train’s collision occurred due to negligence committed by the engine driver and the fireman of the train coming from behind as they violated ‘Red Signal’.
