Strike only mean of protest, says Ali Gilani
'Pakistan Times' Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, a three-member team of High Court Bar Association led by its President, Mian Abdul Qayoom met illegally detained senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani at Chahsmashahi.

Syed Ali Gilani told the bar team that strike was the only mean to raise voice against the unprecedented Indian oppression on people of Kashmir for the last 62 years, said a report by Kashmir Media Service [KMS] on Sunday.

He discussed the prevailing situation in the occupied territory with the visiting bar team for about an hour. He said that India was delaying the settlement of Kashmir dispute despite the United Nations resolutions. To a question, Syed Ali Gilani said that he had caused no loss to people of Kashmir but India had let loose terror in the valley since years.

The senior Hurriyet leader said that India must accept Kashmir as a disputed territory and the fact that its resolution at the earliest was inevitable. He deplored that the puppet administration was patronising the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Mian Abdul Qayoom told media men Syed Ali Gilani had been kept in same cell, where he was lodged during the Amaranth land row agitation, last year. He added that large number of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel guarded the cell.
