President to visit US to attend Holbrooke’s memorial service

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will leave here for the United States on Thursday to attend the memorial service of Richard Holbrooke, the US special representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, who passed away last month.

Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said on Wednesday that President Zardari will attend the memorial service in Washington on Friday.

Thus, the President will join other leaders from around the world in paying homage to late Holbrooke, Basit added. 
 
Meanwhile, another report says; President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday made telephonic contact with the leadership of political parties and consulted them regarding his impending visit of USA.

President Zardari talked to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief of PML-N, Altaf Hussain, Chief of MQM and Asfandyar Wali Khan, Chief of ANP.
