Turkey provides $1million for ‘home city’ in quake-hit area

QUETTA: Turkish ambassador to Pakistan, Engin Soysal on Sunday handed over a cheque of US$ one million as aid assistance to Balochistan government for rehabilitation of earthquake-stricken people of the province, and announced that Turkish government would set up ‘home city with prefabricated steel houses’ for 120 tremor affected families in quake-hit areas.

The Turkish envoy handed over the cheque, and wares brought in containers for setting up prefabricated houses, in Waam union council the worst quake-affected village of Ziarat district.

Balochistan information minister Muhammad Younas Mullazai, district nazim Ziarat Dilawar Khan and the DCO Ziarat were also present on the occasion.

Talking to local tribal notables and people, the Turkish ambassador said that prefabricated houses for 120 quake-stricken families would be set up during the next one week.

In this regard a 25-member team of Turkish Red Crescent organization had already arrived in Waam. He said that the prefabricated houses would resist extreme weather and fulfill all needs as ordinary houses.

The ambassador said that Turkish government and its people were standing shoulder to shoulder with their calamity-hit brothers of Balochistan.

Earlier, the envoy also visited the site where Turkish government would establish home city with prefabricated houses for 120 quake-hit families in Waam area of Ziarat district.
