QUETTA: Some armed assailants fired a rocket which hit Police Training Center [PTC] after opening indiscriminate firings with automatic weapons at police recruits in the center, here in suburb of the city on Wednesday night, PTC police officials said.
They said that some police under training recruits had left their barracks for fetching water for themselves, and they came under firing attacks from western site of the PTC and main road.
The recruits emerged unscathed.
Later, the armed assailants fired a rocket launcher which landed on open ground and went off with loud explosion in the center, the police officials added.
They said that anti-terrorist force ATF personnel retaliated and fierce exchange of firings continued from both sides more than ten minutes and subsequently the armed assailants managed to flee from the scene and succeeded in evading arrest.
However, no one was injured as results of the firings and a rocket assault. The exchange of firings and the rocket explosion triggered panic in nearby areas.
The police officials said that the PTC administration had switched off all the lights in the center and put the security on high alert in and around the center. Police officials are investigating into the rocket and firings incident.  |
