Senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in New Delhi, while criticizing the action said that India is trying to muzzle the press in Kashmir for highlighting the plight and genuine demands of the people.

On the other hand, taking strong notice of occupation authorities’ restrictions on Srinagar media, the International Federation of Journalists and its affiliate organization, the National Union of Journalists of India in their statements in New Delhi expressed their concern and termed the action as gagging the press.

N Ram and Najam Sethi, the Chairman and Secretary General of South Asia Media Commission deplored that the occupation authorities were encroaching upon the professional rights of newspapers.

APHC leader, Yasmeen Raja in a media interview in Srinagar maintained that by holding farcical elections in occupied Kashmir, India wanted to dupe the international community into believing as if every thing was normal in the territory.

People took to streets in Pir Bagh area at Airport Road in Srinagar in protest against the arrests and subjecting innocent people to torture by Indian troops.
