Pakistani Players Win Gold and Silver Medals

DAMASCUS (Syria): Muhammad Attique and Aisha Akram of Pakistan won the Mixed Doubles title in the Syrian International Badminton Series at Damascus on Friday.

In the Semi finals they defeated the Indian pair of Chetia Anirban & Das Kristi by 21-19, 21-19.

In the final they closely beat another Indian pair Castelino Rohan and Kareem Hadil by 14-21, 21-19, 21-14.

Pakistan’s top seeded Doubles pair of Rizwan Azam and Muhammad Attique,Winner of last year’s Men’s doubles title, lost to Iranian pair of Shahhosseini Ali & Kheradmandi Mohamadreza who won 21-19, 21-19.

Meanwhile, another report from Islamabad said Friday that Pakistan will participate in the 121st Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship to be held from November 5-8 at Victoria Golf Club, Kanday.

Pakistan Golf Federation will send a four-member team in this National Golf Championship of Sri Lanka.

The team will be named soon. Pakistan will also send a team to World Karate Championship scheduled to be held from November 13-16 at Tokyo, Japan.

It is the biggest Karate championship of the world organized by World Karate Federation.

Pakistan Karate team comprising four players, Manager and a Referee will participate in the prestigious championship.

World Karate Federation is also holding a Referee Course and Examination from November 8-11, which will be a good opportunity for Pakistan Karate Federation to get its referees qualified from the World Karate Federation.
