Seven militants killed in clash in Bajaur

PESHAWAR: The Security Forces Tuesday killed seven militants and injured five others at Tang Khacha village, some 8 km off Khar, headquarters of Bajaur Agency, Political authorities said.

The Security Forces backed by gunship helicopters and tanks targeted the militants’ hideouts at Tang Khacha after receiving prior information about their presence in the area.

Resultantly, seven militants were killed in the gun battle and another five sustained critical injuries, the official sources informed.

The Security Forces targeted militants’ positions in Bai Cheena, Mula Syed, Jhar, Mula Kally, Kosar, Dabar, Badan and Lagzai area with mortar guns and heavy artillery between Monday and Tuesday nights.

According to official sources the Security Forces have started advancing towards militants’ strongholds Loi Sam, Tang Khacha Rashakai and Khazana and regained control over urban areas of Tehsil Khar.

Meanwhile, another report says; The Frontier Corps troops have secured a large tract of land from Alizai upto area adjoining Leosam in Bajur Agency.

During this operation, the force overcame a number of pockets of resistance, said a press release by HQ FC Peshawar .

A major encounter took place at Rashkai, where many local and foreign miscreants were killed in heavy exchange of fire with Frontier Corps troops.

Stongholds established by miscreants in the area were also destroyed and at least fifteen (15) Improvised Explosive Devices were neutralized on the main route connecting Khar with Nawagai.

All leftover resistance in the area is being wiped out by security forces.
