LONDON: The British
Government has welcomed the decision by Syria and Lebanon to
establish their diplomatic relations and delineate their
common border.
In a statement by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the
British Government noted that such steps would strengthen
Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty as recommended
by the Security Council resolution 1559 and subsequent
resolutions.
“It is now essential that both sides work urgently to take
necessary practical measures to implement this agreement,” it
further said.
