Nawaz, Shahbaz file nomination papers

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim
League-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif will contest the bye elections from NA-52 and
NA-123 while Shahbaz Sharif will run from PP-10.
Nawaz Sharif filed his nomination papers Monday at the office of district
returning officer, Rana Masood, after obtaining the papers for NA-55, and
NA-52.
However he later decided to contest from only one seat in Rawalpindi
--NA-52-- and one from Lahore -NA-123.
The NA-52 seat in Rawalpindi was won by Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, and later
the PML-N had nominated captain Safdar on this seat.
But now Nawaz himself has decided to contest from NA-52 and his son-in-law
captain Safdar will be his covering candidate.
Nawaz will now file his nomination papers for the NA-123 seat in Lahore as
well. This seat was vacated by Javed Hashmi.
Meanwhile Shahbaz Sharif will contest the bye-polls from Punjab Assembly
constituency PP 10 Rawalpindi. The PP-10 seat was vacated by PML-N's Malik
Muhammad Abrar.
Nawaz Sharif had earlier said that he would contest polls for the National
Assembly in the by-elections scheduled for June 24.
He made the announcement himself while addressing a news conference after
the meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee and Parliamentary Group
here at the Punjab House on Monday.
Nawaz Sharif said the meeting decided that he should contest the polls. “Yes
I will contest by-elections”.
President Pakistan Muslim League (N) Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif filed his
nomination papers for contesting the up-coming bye-elections from PP-10 here
on Monday.
The PML (N) leader submitted papers with Returning Officer (RO) for PP-10
Mujahid Muqeem.
The seat was left vacant by Malik Muhammad Ibrar of PML (N).
And a report from DG Khan says that Sardar Zulfikhar Ali Khosa, president
PML-N Punjab on Monday filed his nomination with Additional District and
Session Judge and Returning Officer, Muhammad Akhtar Bahadar to contest the
by-election 2008 on PP-243 seat.
Sardar Hassam ud Din Khosa, the elder son of the Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa
also filed his nomination papers for the same seat.● |
