NEW DELHI (India): India will propose new Confidence Building Measures to
Pakistan during the forthcoming Pak-India Ministerial level talks scheduled
to be held on May 21 in Islamabad.
Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will travel to Pakistan to
hold a review meeting with his Pakistani counter-part Shah Mehmood Qureshi
on fourth round of Composite Dialogue concluded by both the countries last
year.
The Indian daily Statesman reported that New Delhi would propose to increase
frequency in bus services across the Line of Control (LOC),
operationalisation of truck service and liberalisation of permit system.
The proposals also include Kargil-Skardu and Jammu-Sialkot bus service and
converting the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and the Poonch-Rawalkot bus services
into a weekly one from the present fortnightly schedule.
The both sides will assess the progress made on eight issues covered under
the Composite Dialogue process including Jammu and Kashmir, Siachen, Sir
Creek and trade.
The Ministerial level talks will be preceded by the Foreign Secretary-level
discussions on May 20.
According to the daily, the two sides will also deliberate on liberalisation
of visa regime to encourage more travel between the two countries including
packaged tours and increasing the number of pilgrim places that could be
visited by people from the other country.● |
