45 with children killed in India

NEW DELHI: Forty five persons, mostly children were killed when a bus plunged into 60-foot canal in Gujarat state this morning.

A bus of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation carrying mostly school children was on its way from Targol to Bodeli in Vadodara district when this incident occurred.

A senior police official said most of the passengers were children going to school. Forty four bodies have been recovered while bus has also been taken out of the canal. Four children were rescued from the canal.

State Ministers have been rushed to the spot to oversee the rescue operations. Gujarat government has appointed a high-level committee to inquire into the accident.●
