Tribal clashes in Kurram Agency Continue

KURRAM AGENCY: The skirmishes, which had triggered after the attack on passenger convoy at Khawar Kalay Area here, continued today with no let out even on the eighth day, in which, the tribesmen used heavy weapons against each other, leaving thus far 28 dead and 80 wounded.

Sources told that the fresh clashes left 2 dead and 5 injured, making thus far a total of 28 dead and 80 injured.

On the other hand, missiles from outlawed area continued raining in the Agency areas here, while the spate of clashes continued in Balishkhel, Khawar Kalay, Karman, Para Chamnkani, Piwar and Tangi.

Parachanar’s over 20,000 Toori tribesmen yesterday staged a demonstration against the failure in managing a ceasefire and resolving the conflict persisting in the Agency for the last one year.

They demanded immediate actions for halting the clashes, maintaining peace, restoring law and order, opening the roads for traffic besides the restoration of electricity supply in the area.

Tribal elders addressing the demonstrators alleged the officials instead of getting the clashes halted were partisans in their approach and playing the role of silent spectators.●
