APHC strongly criticises naming of garden in Kashmir after Indira Gandhi
'Pakistan Times' Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (IHK): All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Monday strongly criticised the Indian authority for naming the newly-opened Tulip garden in Srinagar after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of ruling coalition UPA visited Srinagar on Saturday to inaugurate the Tulip garden and named it after Indira Gandhi.

This act can not change the disputed status of Kashmir, leader of APHC Shabir Ahmad Shah said while addressing a function in Badgam district.

“Changing the names of roads, institutes and gardens will have no bearing on the Kashmir issue,” he said.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani was also highly critical of this act of the Indian authority.

Shabbir Shah while welcoming the statement of Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Kashmir urged India to resolve Kashmir issue according to the wishes of Kashmiris. This issue can not be kept unresolved for long.

Meanwhile, The Indian forces took Farida Bahanjee along with other Kashmiris under custody when they staged demonstration in Srinagar to protest against human rights violations in IHK. They demanded the authority to come forward with information on missing persons.●
