22 dead, 45 injured by road mishaps in Pakistan
'Pakistan Times' Federal Bureau

ISLAMABAD: At least 22 persons were killed with over 45 injured – most of the in critical condition – by road accidents in diverse areas of Pakistan on Wednesday.

Reports received by ‘Pakistan Times’ [Daily Web Newspaper] Federal Bureau in Islamabad says that fifteen people were killed and several injured in a collision between truck and coach at Kohat-Mitni road on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the accident occurred when a coach collided with a truck at Kohat-Mitni road in Ladhavar Kanda area of Peshawar.

SP rural Nasirul Mulk Bangash has confirmed the killing of 8 persons. The injured have been shifted to Lady Reading hospital.

An earlier report had said that at least 10 persons were killed including a woman and child and eight others injured during a truck-flying coach collision at Matni area on Wednesday morning.

Police said that tragic incident occurred when the driver of Kohat bound flying-coach rammed his vehicle into a truck coming from opposite direction while overtaking another vehicle.

The dead identified are Imdad resident of Budaber and Amir Khan son of Faqir Muhammad resident of Civil Colony.

Police and local volunteers rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital.

And, a report from Multan says that five persons were killed and another 14 injured when a coaster rammed into stationary vehicles at Sher Shah Railway crossing near here on Wednesday.

Police said that an air-conditioned coaster of the Alfarid bus company was on its way from Multan to Mianwali when its brakes failed and it broke open the railway crossing at Sher Shah and rammed into stationary vehicles including a bus, a truck and a wagon.

As a result, two persons, not identified as yet, were killed on the spot while three more expired at the Nishtar Hospital’s emergency ward.

One of them has been identified as Muhammad Zeeshan, 20. He is a resident of Mahmood Kot, tehsil Kot Addu, district Muzaffargarh.

Dr Sarfraz Ahmed of the Emergency Ward said that two of the injured were in critical condition.

The wounded persons have been identified as Zohaib, Allah Rakha, Muhammad Khan, Allah Ditta, Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Abid, Muhammad Asif, Ms Shamaila, Mst Saddaan Mai, Muhammad Dawood, Fiza Bibi and Ghulam Shabbir.

And, one person was killed while 22 others were injured, five of them seriously, when a bus coming from Plundari Azad Kashmir, fell down from the Faizabad flyover, near Islamabad on Wednesday.

The ill-fated bus No. VLT-9763 coming from Plundari Azad Kashmir when reached at Faizabad flyover fell down due to over speeding, as result one person is stated to be killed, while 22 others including men and women sustained injuries, five of them stated to be in precarious condition, all the injured are citizens of Azad Kashmir.

Besides police, Rescue 1122 and other valunteer teams reached the spot to rescue the injured.

The 15 injured have been shifted to different hospitals of Islamabad, while seven others were admitted in the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) and District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in Rawalpindi.

According to the eye witnesses the accident occurred due to over speeding and negligence of the bus driver.●
