DUBAI: Two people were killed and two were injured in a massive explosion at a fireworks factory Wednesday that has sparked a raging conflagration in an industrial zone, Dubai civil defense official said.

The cause of the explosion is not clear and at least one injured person is being treated at the nearby Rashid hospital.

Fire crews have been battling raging flames, which have sent thick clouds black smoke into the early morning sky in this booming Gulf city-state.

The blast occurred in Dubai's Al Qouz Industrial area, which consists of warehouses, factories, malls and labor camps, where thousands of Asian construction workers live.●
