Aitzaz says don’t want clash with
Parliament

ISLAMABAD: President Supreme Court Bar Association Atizaz Ahsan said that
lawyers do not clash with parliament but vowed to launch a movement if
judges would not be restored.
Talking to media outside residence of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhry, Atizaz said that we have options of long march and
launching movement for the restoration of judges but we want to see a strong
parliament.
Later, Aitzaz left to meet Justice Iftikhar along with lawyers leaders Munir
A Malik and Ali Ahmad Kurd and Tariq Mahmood.
According to an earlier report, President Supreme Court Bar Association
Atizaz Ahsan has said that deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry
would address lawyers in Quetta on March 31st.
Talking to media outside the residence of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry
along with Munir A Malik, Ali Ahmad Kurd and Tariq Mahmood, Atizaz said that
the deposed chief justice wants to visit his home town Quetta and will leave
for the town on March 31 by a flight at 10:30 am.
He will stay in Quetta for two to three days than he will start addresses to
the Bars throughout the country.
The deposed chief justice has not visited his home in Quetta for more than a
year. He will meet his relatives and will address the Quetta Bar and
Balochistan High Court Bar on March 31st, Aitzaz said.
He will visit Sukkur after Quetta, where he will address Sukkur Bar
Association, Ali Ahmad Kurd told newsmen.
He wants to thank lawyers through his addresses to the bar associations for
their active role in the movement for restoration of judiciary, Munir A.
told the media.
Meanwhile, a report from Lahore says that Lahore lawyers boycotted court
proceedings for one hour on Wednesday to press their demands for restoration
of deposed judges and freedom of judiciary.
The lawyers stayed away from the court proceedings and organized token
hunger strike camps on the call of Lahore Bar and Lahore High Court Bar.
The lawyers hoisted black flags at the Bar offices, tied black armbands and
chanted slogans for restoration of deposed judges and freedom of judiciary.
The Bar leaders addressing the hunger strike camp vowed to what they phrased
as; "to get rid of the unconstitutional acts".● |
