Pakistan, Turkey to enhance
trade Relations

ISLAMABAD: Two-member official delegation of Turkish Embassy visited
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here to review trade
relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
The delegation comprising Ms. Bilgu Gucer, Cultural and Information
Counsellor and Rafik Ozgur, Chief Commercial Counsellor had detailed
discussion with ICCI President Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi and other members of the
chamber.
Speaking on the occasion, Ijaz Abbasi said that Pakistan and Turkey have
been enjoying exemplary and time-tested relationship adding that both the
countries enjoy common cultural heritage, faith, history and values.
He said that trade between the two countries has registered a modest
increase during the recent years, added that this needed to be further
enhanced to exploit the true potential of the two countries.
He said that some Turkish companies were working in Pakistan, however,
stressed the need for more collaboration of Turkish companies with Pakistani
companies.
He said that there was a tremendous scope for enhancing cooperation in
economy, trade, tourism and science, adding that Pakistan can import Turkish
dairy products, refrigerators, washing machines, electronic goods,
automobiles and other durable items which are said to be qualitatively
better and cheaper.
He emphasized that there should be a permanent Display Center of Pakistani
Products in Istanbul and single country exhibitions should be organized in
both countries.
He also offered the delegation space for displaying Turkish products in
Export Display Center to be established by the ICCI.
On the occasion, Bilgu Gucer, Cultural and Information Counsellor and Rafik
Ozgur, Chief Commercial Counsellor said that Turkey was an emerging economy
and Pakistani businessmen should focus on this market.
They emphasized that there should be direct flight from Istanbul to
Islamabad, which shall help in increasing the trade and economic activities
between the two countries.
The delegation members informed that Turkey was organizing a Buyers Mission
in April and asked for the participation of Pakistani businessmen in this
event.
They also provided a list of exhibitions, which are being organized in
Turkey, adding that Turkish Embassy in collaboration ICCI intends to
organize a meeting with tour operators to let them know the available
opportunity in Turkey, so that more people could travel there.● |
