Pakistan exports grow by 7.86% in 8 Months

ISLAMABAD: Showing an upward trend, the Pakistani exports grew by 7.86
percent during the first eight months of the current financial when compared
to corresponding period of the last financial year.
Pakistani exports from July-February (2007-08) valued at US $ 11.7 billion
as compared to $ 10.8 billion during the same period of 2006-07 financial
year, said the provisional figures released by Federal Bureau of Statistics
here on Monday.
The exports during February 2008 stood at $ 1.5 billion which were $1.4
billion in January 2008, showing an increase of 5.31 per cent.
Similarly exports during the month under review increased by 22.25 percent
when compared to same month of 2007.
On the other hand, Pakistani imports grew by 21.95 percent by increasing
from $19.7 billion from July-February of last financial year to $ 24.1
billion in the same period of the current financial year.
The Imports during February totaled $ 3.65 billion as compared to $3.52
billion in the previous month, showing 3.67 per cent increase.
Similarly imports were increased by 42.25 per cent in February 2008 when
compared to same month of last financial year.
The trade balance from July-February (2007-07) was recorded at $ (-) 12.4
billion.● |
