Musharraf shocked over tragic death of Gulgee
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday expressed his deep sense of shock and grief over the tragic death of renowned artist Gulgee, his wife and servant in Karachi. In a message of condolence, the President said that with the sad demise of Gulgee the country has lost one of the greatest artists. He has also ordered an immediate inquiry into the circumstances of Gulgee’s death. The President eulogized the contributions of Gulgee in promoting art in Pakistan and said his portraits and sculptures, particularly his work in Islamic art and calligraphy, is a living testimony to the genius of his great art. Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmain Soomro has also expressed great shock and grief over the death of Gulgee, his wife and maid servant in mysterious circumstances in Karachi. He has directed the Sindh Government to probe into the mysterious death of the renowned artist and apprehend the culprits involved in this crime. In his condolence message to the son of late Gulgee, the Prime Minister who is in Saudi Arabia, said he was deeply grieved to learn about the mysterious circumstances causing death of Gulgee, his wife and maid servant. Soomro said late Gulgee made valuable contribution in the field of art and earned international stature adding to the country’s image. “His innovative creations would long be remembered by art lovers both at home and abroad. In his death, the country has lost a great artist,” he said. He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to his son to bear the loss of his parents.
