Azad Kashmir Cabinet endorses Imposition
of Emergency

MUZAFFARABAD (AJK): The AJK
government has welcomed the imposition of emergency and fully supported the
step of President Pervez Musharraf in this regard.
AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, who is also president of All
Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, chaired the informal cabinet meeting
Monday.
The cabinet discussed the imposition of emergency in Pakistan and termed it
as inevitable under the prevailing circumstances and expressed complete
satisfaction over the steps taken by President Pervez Musharraf in the
larger interests of the country.
The cabinet observed that the country was put on the path of democracy and
the transitional phase of transfer of power to the next elected government
but terrorism and extremism were posing threat to overall law and order
situation.
The meeting extended full support to issuance of Provisional Constitutional
Order and appreciated that despite imposition of emergency all the
democratic institutions including the Senate, National and provincial
assemblies remained functional.
It continued that the present government, under the dynamic leadership of
President Pervez Musharraf had put the country on the road to progress.
The cabinet expressed its full confidence in the leadership of President
Musharraf and lauded his efforts for the peaceful solution of Kashmir issue
and rehabilitation and reconstruction of of quake hit areas and thanked the
President for announcing developmental funds of Rs. 42 billion for AJK.●
