Mobilink to Enhance Telecom Journalists

ISTANBUL (Turkey):
Pakistan’s most popular largest mobile network operator, Mobilink Wednesday
organized a media training workshop to enhance reporting skills of Pakistani
journalists on Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) here.
Around 25 journalists from electronic as well as print media organizations
from Pakistan were targeted for the workshop as part of Mobilink’s plan for
expanding their professional telecom reporting skills.
An international media expert on telecom, Eileen M Wallis conducted the
workshop which has been designed to introduce journalists to new ICT tools
and techniques to polish their professional skills and identify additional
stories, emerging in Pakistan’s growing telecom industry.
During proceedings of the course, the journalists were given lectures on
reporting, ICT interviewing, investigative news stories and advanced
technology systems.
The matters relating to role of regulator, Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority (PTA), changes and issues relating to telecom sector in Pakistan
as well as abroad and needs of subscribers were the main topics discussed
during the workshop.
The expert in lecture said that rapid changes are taking place in Pakistan’s
telecom sector which has contributed a lot in generating employment
opportunities and socio economic uplift of the country.
She said the telecom in Pakistan shows the progressive side and enables
innovation from competitive operators, garnering international attention and
acclaim.
The participants took keen interest in raising various questions regarding
development and changes, occurring in Pakistan in telecom area which the
trainer replied in a satisfactory manner.

Senior Manager Public Relations, Mobilink, Omar Manzur who was also
participating the workshop said Mobilink being country’s market leader in
cellular communication with a growing base of over 28 million customers is
active in organizing regular training workshops as part of its Corporate
Social Responsibility in further developing the professional capacities of
journalists who report on telecommunications developments in Pakistan as
well as abroad.
The Senior Manager said the company has been conducting training workshops
and tours regularly for journalists in Pakistan and abroad and would
continue this practice in future as well.
In this regard, he recalled the training workshop organized by Mobilink at
Thailand ‘s Capital Bangkok in May last year with the objective of
introducing new reporting techniques to reporters.
Senior members of Mobilink's Public Relations and Marketing department also
attended the workshop.●
