Record Uplift Projects of Rs 177b Executed
in South Punjab: CM

Chief Minister Ch. Pervaiz Elahi Sunday said that a record development
projects of Rs 177 billion were executed in southern Punjab during the last
five years.
Addressing a big gathering after performing the foundation stone laying
ceremony of Khawaja Farid bridge on National Highway, he said the bridge
would cost Rs 2.5 billion to link national highway from RY Khan to indus
highway Rajanpur.
The completion of this bridge would reduce the distance of 100 kilometres
between both the districts, he added.
The farmers of backward areas of Rajanpur district would immensely be
benefitted from this facility that also usher in an era of progress and
prosperity in the area, he added.
The Chief Minister while performing the foundation stone laying ceremony of
Mehmood Stadium in city said that Punjab government had released 11 percent
more funds to southern Punjab against the proportion of its population
during the last five years.He said that Mehmood stadium would be completed
at a cost of Rs.300 million.
He urged the youths to take part in sports to avoid unhealthy activites.
While talking to parliamentarians and party workers hailing from RY Khan,
Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said that the country had made a revolutionary progress
due to the vibrant policies of President General Pervez Musharraf.
He said that the forex reserves of the country has increased to 15 billion
dollars due to which the country’s economy has strengthened.●
