7 Dead in Check Post Attack at Swat, NW Pakistan

SWAT: Seven security personnel including five FC officials and two policemen lost their lives and several others were injured when some unidentified miscreants attacked FC check post in Swat on Thursday night.

Some unidentified miscreants had blown a police van, which arrived here to provide help to FC officials after they were attacked with some explosive material.

According to sources, the deaths of several people including police officials are feared. The police van was dispatched from Khozakhela for help.

A report says that the blast claimed life of one civilian; while, two policemen were injured.

Earlier, the armed men attacked a security forces check post in Char Bagh area of Swat.

The unidentified assailants shelled nine rockets and mortars. Security forces also returned the fire in defence. There are reports that various police personnel are wounded in these attacks.

The seven injured have been moved to Saidu Sharif Hospital for medical treatment.●
