SC Pakistan Orders to Ensure Voters Registration within 30 Days
'Pakistan Times' Special Correspondent

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Qazi Farooq said that under the order of the Supreme Court, the registration of voters at their homes within 30 days
would be ensured and the NADRA also would make free CNICs of poor voters.

He expressed these views before media after talking with a delegation of opposition parties.

Among the leaders, who met with the Chief Election Commissioner, were Prof. Ibrahim, Mian Aslam, Lateef Khosa, Nayyar Bokhari, Farooq Naik, Ahmed Bilal Mahboob and the chief of the Sindh United Party.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the election process would be completed in a transparent manner.

The complete electoral lists would be displayed in the first week of October whereas in compliance to the Supreme Court order, we would go to each and every home and ensure the registration of eligible voters within 30 days.

He said that consultation with all parties would be continued to make the election process transparent whereas the ballot boxes would also be transparent.

In reply to a question, the Chief Election Commissioner said the nazims would not be involved in voting process. Besides, we would not tolerate interference from any other.

He said thet the NADRA does not come into our range but we request them to prepare CNICs for the poor voters so that they can also register their votes.

On this occasion, the opposition leaders said that we have reservations on the electoral lists and we have informed the Election commission.●
