British High Commissioner praises Role of Overseas Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Pakistani community residing in the United Kingdom is law-abiding and significant contributory in the development of Great Britain, said British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley.

The British High Commissioner said this in his meeting with Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, Ghulam Sarwar Khan here Friday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed various matters relating to the Pakistanis community living in UK.

The Labour Minister highlighted the problems faced by the Pakistanis in Great Britain.

Sarwar Khan also briefed the British High Commissioner about the efforts and steps taken by his government for the welfare of Overseas Pakistanis.

Appreciating the role of Overseas Pakistani, the High Commissioner said that there are about 200 Mayors, Deputy Mayros Councilors in UK besides the members of House of Lords and House of Commons and all of them are performing their responsibilities in an efficient way.

“This is an indication that Pakistani community in UK is not facing problem and label of terrorism is just figment of imagination as is hyped media”, he added.

However, he assured the support of British government in case of any problem faced by Pakistanis in UK.

Both sides also discussed the Prisoner Exchange Agreement.

Around 7.5 million overseas Pakistanis live in various countries including United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Far East.●
