SRINAGAR (IHK): At least 10
soldiers are critical and 25 injured as Indian Army’s arms and ammunition
depot in held Kashmir district of Anantnag caught fire on Saturday, a
Defence Ministry spokesman said.
He ruled out any sabotage or militant hand in the fire. The fire started in
the ammunition depot early morning today and gained intensity, sending
splinters as far as 12 kms.
A portion of the room where the arms were stored was gutted.
The depot is of strategic importance to the Army as it is located in an area
where many cases of militant activities have come up in the recent past.
Fire brigades rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control to a
large extent.●
