Oil Prices Slide Further; Brent below $ 70

LONDON: World oil prices fell for the third straight day on Friday, with a barrel of Brent again sliding under 70 dollars on fears of weaker global demand for energy should the US subprime situation worsen.

In London, the price of Brent North Sea crude for September delivery dropped 77 cents to 69.44 dollars per barrel.

On Thursday, Brent had slumped to 69.25 dollars per barrel, the lowest point since June 13.

On Friday, New York's main futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in September, lost 1.00 dollar to 70.59 dollars per barrel.●
