Pakistan Placed 5th in World Hockey

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is
placed 5th in the latest world men’s field hockey rankings.
With 1810 points as compared to 2391 of table-toppers Holland, Pakistan
takes its position behind Holland, Australia, Spain and Germany.
The following is the list of top-10 world rankings of men’s field hockey;
Netherlands 2391, Australia 2295, Spain 2193, Germany 2078, Pakistan 1810,
South Korea (1500), India 1418, Argentina 1275, England 1249, New Zealand
1220.
In compiling the world ranking, the international field hockey tournaments
including qualification tournaments, and the previous four years’
international results are used in points calculation.
The tournaments used for points calculation are Olympic Games, World Cup
Champions Trophy, Champions Challenge and Continental Championships.
If the main tournament has a qualification tournament, its results will also
be used in the ranking.
Pakistan has failed to enter the semi-final stage of the last three Olympics
and as many World Cups.●
