Pakistan, South Africa to Strengthen Trade

ISLAMABAD: Acting High
Commissioner of South Africa Cassiom Peer stressed for strengthening trade
and economic ties between Pakistan and South Africa.
In a meeting with President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI)
Nasir Khan and other office bearers here on Thursday, the two sides
discussed the prospects to improving trade and investment opportunities
between the two countries.
Acting High Commissioner identified that products like surgical equipments,
textile products, rice, spices and sports goods have good market in South
Africa because South Africa is the main shopping centre of seven neighboring
countries.
He said South Africa had great potential for the export of Gold, diamonds,
platinum other metals and minerals, machinery and raw material of steel
products to Pakistan.
He said that frequent exchange of trade delegation between South African
Chambers and Pakistani chambers was must for the promotion of stronger
business ties.
Cassiom Peer stressed the need of enhancing trade relations as current trade
volume was insufficient.
He said that Muslim population is playing a vital and effective role in
socio-economic uplift of South Africa.
Acting High Commissioner expressed great satisfaction over the economic
policies of Pakistan and termed Pakistan as a peaceful country with great
investment opportunities.
“Chinese and Indian companies are capturing South African market.
Pakistani investors should invest in South Africa”, he said.
He informed that there are ample opportunities of investment in information
technology, mining, agriculture and other sectors in South Africa.
President ICCI Nasir Khan said that Pakistan is a big market for South
Africa, adding, bilateral trade between the two countries could be improved
through exchange of business delegations.●
