Pakistan Muslim League (N) Leader Javed Hashmi attends NA Session
'Pakistan Times' Parliamentary Correspondent

ISLAMABAD: Acting President Pakistan Muslim League (N) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi was back in the National Assembly on Monday after nearly four years in jail, following his release last week on bail on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The PML-N acting president reached National Assembly building in a procession arranged by party workers and leaders from the Parliament lodges.

Talking to media persons, Javed Hashmi said that he would continue his efforts for democracy and stability in the country.

Hashmi said that he would soon leave for London to meet the PML-N top leader and former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to discuss the national issues.

He said return of Nawaz Sharif and ex-prime minister Benazir Bhutto was essential for holding free, fair and transparent general election.

On his arrival at the parliament building, lawmakers from PML-N and other opposition parties congratulated Hashmi on his release and said it would give a boost to the struggle for democracy in the country.

Later Hashmi, who is also President of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD), participated in the session of the lower house.●
