Pakistan to Feature in Asian
Table Tennis in China

KARACHI: Pakistan will take
part in the 17th Asian Table Tennis Championship schedule to be held in
Ghanzhou (China) from September 17 to 23, President Pakistan Table Tennis
Federation (PTTF) S.M.Sibtain said on Monday.
He said three-day trials to select Pakistan men and women squad for the
competition will be held at WAPDA Sports Complex from August 11. Four men
and four women players will be picked after final league trials.
He informed that Pakistan’s four top men and women will be exempted from the
initial rounds of trials and they will appear in the final league.
Sibtain said a 16-member Pakistan under-18 and under-15 team will feature in
the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Junior Circuit schedule to
be held at Goa (India) from September 12 to 15.
He said four boys each in under-18 and under-15 and as many girls will be
selected for the same competition. He said these boys and girls will be
picked on the basis of performance in junior competition and on the showing
of Asian Junior Championship held in Korea.
PTTF Chief said singles, doubles and team competition will be contested in
the ITTF junior circuit.
He said same circuit event which was to be held here in Islamabad from
September 9 was called off by ITTF due to security situation in the federal
capital.●
