ISLAMABAD: Seventeen Security F orces
personnel embraced Shahadat while fourteen others were injured, when
miscreants opened fired on a military convoy near Ghazlamai, North
Waziristan Agency on Wednesday.
The incident took place at 0850. The injured of the incident have been
evacuated by helicopter to CMH Bannu.
During retaliatory fire by Security forces a number of miscreants were also
killed.
In another incident, at 1500 hours five miscreants were killed in an
exchange of fire with Security Forces, at Pitasi Adda in Mir Ali city (North
Waziristan Agency).
Five miscreants were killed on Wednesday in a cross fire with the security
forces in Patasi Adda, Mir Ali city of North Waziristan.
The miscreants had opened fire on the security forces and in retaliation to
which they were killed, said Director General ISPR Major General Waheed
Arshad.
Rockets Rain
An earlier report from Miranshah says that a flurry of rockets fired by some
unknown persons rained at the camp of security forces here at the
headquarters of North Waziristan, however, there was no loss of life.
Sources told that some unknown persons fired several rockets at the camp of
security forces to which the security men retaliated, but no loss of life
was reported.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday night some unidentified persons had
blasted two check posts of Khasadar Force by planting explosive device,
while three security men and one passerby had died in a suicide attack on
Mir Ali check post.

As was reported earlier by Pakistan's first ISSN-certified independent daily
E-newspaper, 'Pakistan Times' through Wire Service in its edition of
Wednesday, July 18, 2007; seventeen security men were martyred and 13
injured when miscreants attacked a convoy of security forces in Madakhel
area of North Waziristan tribal region on Wednesday.
Armed men exploded a remote-controlled bomb and opened firing with automatic
weapons on a security forces convoy in Madakhel area, killing 17 and
wounding 13 security men.
Several miscreants were killed in retaliatory firing by the security forces
and others fled to hide in nearby hilly terrain.
Director General ISPR Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad told a private TV channel that
the armed men opened firing on the convoy of security forces in the morning
after 08:30 am, in which 16 security men were martyred and 14 injured. The
injured were later shifted to Bannu hospital.
Replying a question he said he has no reports of miscreants casualties in
retaliatory action of the forces.●
