Under-19 to Meet Australia in ODIs at
Mirpur Azad Kashmir

MIRPUR (AJK): Pakistan’s
Under-19 will meet their Australian counterpart in two one-day international
cricket matches at Quaid-e-Azam International Sports Stadium in Mirpur, Azad
Jammu Kashmir, on Oct 10 and 12, it was officially stated here Wednesday.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host both the matches with the
coordination of Mirpur Divisional and District Administrations and Mirpur
Development Authority”, Chairman MDA Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan told
'Pakistan Times' [Daily Web Newspaper] at a meeting held here to review the
security and other arrangements for holding the schedule ODIs in a befitting
manner.
The meeting was attended by senior MDA, district administration and AJK
Cricket Board officials besides security officials including Director MDA
Raja Jalil Ahmed.
ASP Sheheryar briefed the meeting about the security arrangements for the
safety of players.
Sardar Rahim continued that both the scheduled ODI cricket matches would be
the mega events in cricket history of Mirpur that would help to promote the
first class cricket in the area.
The MDA Chairman said that a six-member team of Australian Cricket team
include Paul Marsh, Chief Executive Officer Australian Cricket Association,
Geoffery Allardic, Danryl Foster, Team Manager Stephen Barnard, both team
managers, Micheal Braon, General Manager Cricket Operation and Reginald
Dickson, Security Manager of the Australian Cricket team will be visiting
Mirpur on Wednesday to review and assess the arrangements for holding of the
scheduled one-day contests between Under-19 teams of Australia and Pakistan
here.
He said that during stay the Australian cricket managers will visit local
Quaid-i-Azam Sports Stadium, the venue of the scheduled ODIs besides
attending meetings with the local organizers to discuss and review the
arrangements for holding of the scheduled contests in a appropriate manner.
Three matches of global repute have so far been played at the Quaid-e-Azam
Sports Stadium Mirpur.
The matches played so far included exhibition benefit match between Pakistan
Cricketers-XI and Film Star-XI for Tsunami victims in Spring 2005, one-day
match between County-Cricket-XI and Veterans-XI on November 9, last year for
the benefit of October 2005-earthquake victims and the first class cricket
contest under Pakistan Under-19 championship played this year.●
