Mobilink reaches out to poor people of flood-hit areas in Sindh
'Pakistan Times' National News Desk

KARACHI: Mobilink, the country’s market leader in cellular communication with a growing base of over 25 million customers and part of the Orascom Telecom group, is once again extending its support in providing relief to the affectees of the flood hit areas of Shahdad Kot, North West of Larkana, Sindh.

The company has arranged for relief goods in coordination with Pakistan Rangers and Edhi Trust to facilitate the victims of the recent floods who have lost their homes and now lack the basic necessities of life.

Mobilink is the first cellular operator to support the flood-hit areas and is still identifying more ways to help and facilitate the affected persons. The company has arranged food bags containing Wheat, Sugar, Rice, Cooking Oil, Tea, Milk and Water bottles supply the basic necessity of food to Sind.

The Rangers and Edhi Trust have been supporting the company in distributing the food amongst the needy; without such logistical help it would be impossible to reach-out to thousands of people.

Zouhair Khaliq, President and CEO Mobilink stated, “Over the years Mobilink has laid special emphasis on putting to practice its corporate social responsibility in Pakistan; we believe that as market leader we set the stage for any fundamental role to be played. We expect this endeavor to set an example for other corporate to get involved in these efforts. . Mobilink and its employees feel the pain of the flood affectees and would like to do as much as possible to help them.”

The Company has already dispatched 2 truck loads of basic necessities which will cater to 400 families; 2 additional trucks are also on way from the Indus highway to Larkana to help the affected people. The security officers of Mobilink, many of whom are ex-servicemen are supervising the transportation, storage and distribution of goods.

“It is commendable on the part of Mobilink to be one of the first multi-national companies to have come forward with providing relief goods to the affected people of interior Sindh; there is widespread damage in many parts of the province and it is incumbent on organizations like Mobilink to support this clarion call for supporting the poor and needy of our country” stated the Rangers representative assisting the Company in the relief efforts.
