Nine feared dead as boat capsizes in river Jehlum

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, a boat ferrying villagers capsized in River Jehlum with nearly nine persons feared dead in Baramulla district.

The incident occurred when a boat while heading from Jahama to Ladoora with over a dozen villagers on board capsized midway, eyewitnesses said.

A police official on the spot told media men that I can’t give details about the exact number of persons who were in boat. The figure about missing persons is just a hearsay as it was dark when the incident occurred and no one had counted the persons on board, he said.

The boat drowning triggered resentment with people blasting the puppet regime for doing nothing in constructing a bridge as an alternate route. The villagers said that the puppet administration didn’t act timely to rescue those drowned.●
