Pakistan to act in disciplinary
body of Asian Football Cup

LAHORE: Asian Football
Confederation (AFC) has approved the name of president Pakistan Football
Federation (PFF) Faisal Saleh Hayat in the AFC Disciplinary Committee
(Indonesian leg) of 14th Asian Football Cup.
Indonesia is one of the four nations to organize the AFC's showpiece event
along with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam from July 7-29.
"For the first time in its history, the Asian Cup will be co-hosted by four
nations. This will be the first major tournament in which Australia will
participate as member of the AFC." said Faisal Saleh Hayat who thanked AFC
president Mohamed bin Hammam for the confidence expressed in him.
Faisal Saleh told here Monday that he will look after matches at Jakarta's
Bung Karno Stadium and Palembang's Jakabaring Stadium.
The AFC allotted Indonesia nine matches viz six Group-D matches plus a
quarter-final, final and third-place encounter.
Hosts Indonesia, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will appear in
Group-D matches. Central Jakarata's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, named after
Indonesia's first president Soekarno, will have the privilege of hosting the
grand finale on July 29, 2007.
"For me it's a big honour to be part of such a premier activity which will
help us learn more about disciplinary issues and their solutions," said
Faisal who is a member of AFC Disciplinary Committee.
The Group A comprises of Thailand, Australia, Oman and Iraq and Group B have
Vietnam, Japan, Qatar and UAE. Malaysia, Iran, Uzbekistan and China are in
Group-C.
