Pakistani fishermen asked to stay ashore QUETTA: The Met Office on Wednesday told fishermen in Balochistan to stay ashore during the next 24 hours as Cyclone Gonu hit the east coast of Oman on early Wednesday. Rough seas have already damaged dozens of fishing boats in Balochistan, especially near the deep seaport in Gwadar. "Fishermen of Balochistan coastal areas, especially Gwadar, Jiwani and its adjoining areas, may not resume their activities for the next 24 hours," the Met Office said on its website. "The sea conditions are likely to become very rough." Gwadar Nazim Majid Sorabi said strong winds had damaged more than 100 anchored boats.● |
