Punjab Confirms Arrest of 312 Opposition Workers

LAHORE: Punjab home department Wednesday confirmed that police have detained some 312 opposition parties’ leaders and workers throughout the province.

Provincial home secretary Khusro Fazal Khan while confirming the arrests told a private television channel that the political workers have been detained in the province under Article 144.

The government cannot sit idle after burning of the copies of the reference and other official documents and holding rallies and public meetings by the opposition parties, he said.

Reports say that police have detained activists of opposition Pakistan People's Party, Muttahida Majalis Amal (MMA) and Muslim League-N across the province.●
