Kashmiris’ Participation in Talks Must for Success: Yasin
'Pakistan Times' Kashmir Bureau Chief

SRINAGAR (IHK): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, addressing a gathering at Noorabad in Islamabad district, said that Kashmir issue can only be resolved by the direct participation of Kashmiri leaders in the dialogue process between India and Pakistan.

Yasin Malik said that it was due to the sacrifices of people of Jammu and Kashmir that people across the globe were calling for peaceful and amicable resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

"It becomes more important for people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain extra cautious at this juncture when Kashmir issue has entered a crucial phase", Malik said.

He said that Kashmiri people have to be directly involved in the dialogue process to make it result oriented. "It is the issue of people of Jammu and Kashmir and their involvement in the dialogue process is must", he said adding, "Without their participation, the dialogue process cannot yield result".

The JKLF chairman condemned grave human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, saying that these acts won't deter people from fighting for their right to self-determination.

People of the area told the JKLF chairman that they were being continually subjected to harassment and torture by the Indian troops stationed in the area.

They said, the troops frequently forced them out of their houses and herded them to nearby military camps, where they were kept for hours and subjected to agonizing questioning and other irritating methods.●
