Pakistan EC announces Schedule to Finalize Computerized Electoral Rolls

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan Tuesday announced to display the newly prepared draft electoral rolls at the display centres across the country on June 12.

Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq, announced the schedule for public information and inviting their claims, objections and applications for corrections for a period of 21 days from June to 13 to July 03.

According to schedule publication of Draft Electoral Rolls at Display Centres will be made on June 12 and the claims, objections and applications will be filed by the voters between June 13 and July 03.

Disposal of claims, objections and applications for corrections by the Revising Authorities and incorporation of decisions in the manuscript copies will take place from July 04 to July 13.

Picking up of manuscript copies from the offices of Registration Officers will take place between July 16-23 and data entry and printing of final electoral rolls will commence on July 26 while the date for final publication of electoral rolls will be fixed later.

Announcing the schedule, the Chief Election Commissioner stated that for this gigantic task of national importance, in all 45,403 Display Centers have been established in 111 Districts and 7 Agencies (FATAs) of the country for the purpose.

He said 950 Revising Authorities have been appointed from amongst Judicial Officers in consultation with the Chief Justices of the High Courts to successfully accomplish the process of filing and disposal of claims (for inclusion), objections (for deletion) and applications (for corrections) within the stipulated period.

The Chief Election Commissioner has also appealed the eligible voters, who were not registered during the door-to-door enumeration process, to visit the Display Centers and avail the opportunity of filing their Claims, Objections and Applications for Corrections.

This, he said, would help the Election Commission in preparation of error-free and authentic Electorial Rolls to be used during the forthcoming General Elections in the country.●
