Lords Cricket Ground to be Revamped
Pakistan Times Sports Desk

LONDON (UK): The world famous Lord's cricket ground in Central London is to undergo a major re-development that could see its seating capacity grows by more than ten thousand extra seats.

The ground owner Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is considering proposals which include cricket academy, residential flats and an ice rink being built around its site in St.John's Wood.

The ground which dates back to 1814 could see its capacity increase from the current 28,500 to 40,000. It is currently hosting the first Test against the West Indies.

The media reports say the development work could commence towards the end of September with the conclusion of the 2007 English domestic season once the proposals are accepted by the Local Government Planning commission.●
