Pakistan Wins Abu Dhabi Series against Sri Lanka

ABU DHABI (United Arab Emirates): Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 98 runs in second ODI and won the Abu Dhabi series with 2-0 here Sunday in Shaikh Zayed Stadium.

Pakistan had scored 313 runs for loss of nine wickets, setting 314 runs target for rivals to win the match.

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik earlier won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistani openers fired with full steam provided good opening stand to the team to build a good total.

Salman Butt (74), Yasir Hameed (50) and Kamran Akmal (38), were the major contributors of the innings.

Bandara and Maharoof with three wickets each, were two most successful bowlers of the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

Shahid Afridi took 3 wickets, Muhammad Sami, Umer Gul and Muhammad Asif took 2 wickets each, while captain Shoaib Malik bagged one wicket. Salman Butt was declared the man-of-the-match.

The last and third match of the series will be played on Tuesday.●
