Rehman Leads in President on Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Muhammad Rehman
played a net round of 66 to take lead on the opening day of 47th President
of Pakistan Cup Golf Tournament at Rawalpindi Golf Club on Friday.
Muhammad Rehman of Royal Palm Golf Club of Lahore, having an handicap of 4,
returned a splendid card of 66 net over 18 holes with 36 holes more to go
over the remaining two days.
He also surged to lead in the gross section of the main amateur category
with a first day tally of 70.
Jointly finishing one stroke behind Rehman in net category were Ejaz Hussain
Qureshi (handicap 6) and Idrees Nisar (handicap 11) with 67 net each while
6-handicapper Farid Butter was placed at 68 net.
The net scorers will be considered for deciding the title trophy at this
oldest golf club of the country.
Trailing behind Rehman in the gross category was Waqas Ahmed of the home
club with a card of 72 while joint third with 73 gross each were Ejaz
Hussain Qureshi of Rawalpindi and Azher Shah Bukhari of Islamabad.
The subsidiary match also got underway on the first day with following
results:--Gross--Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed (80), Lt. Col. Rizwan Munir (81), Capt.
Ali Akram and Lt. Col. Adnan (82 each). Net--Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed (62), Capt.
Ali Akram (64) and Lt. Col. Rizwan Munir (66).
All of these seven golfers in the subsidiary match were from Rawalpindi Golf
Club.
The tournament also features the events of ladies, invitees and seniors, to
be played over the coming couple of days.●
