Pakistan
'Pakistan Times' National News Desk
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz Friday said record wheat crop would augment the income of
farmers and contribute to the prosperity, growth and development of rural
areas.
He said because of better availability of water, timely rains and the
government's policy of encouraging balanced use of fertilizers through
subsidizing phosphatic fertilizers significantly increased the wheat crop,
which would directly raise the farm income across the country.
The Prime Minister said this while talking to the PML parliamentarians at
the PM House this afternoon.
He said as a result of the reforms introduced by the government, living
standards had improved and the purchasing power of people in rural areas had
increased which was evident from the market surveys showing increased sale
of consumer items.
He said the increased consumption of goods would accelerate industrial and
commercial activity in the country.
The Prime Minister said the government had decided to increase the
development allocation in next budget on the basis of the feedback by the
parliamentarians.
He said this will increase employment opportunities and provide basic
necessities of life like electricity, gas, clean drinking water and health
and education facilities to the people at their doorsteps.
He said it was gratifying to note that the pace of implementation on the
ongoing projects had picked up.
He said it was important that the government's reform agenda was carried
forward with consistency and continuity of policies to ensure continued
economic growth.
The Prime Minister said the next general elections would be held on schedule
and the government of PML and its allied parties would go to the polls on
the basis of their track record of bringing political stability and economic
uplift of the masses.

various development schemes in his constituency and said that once
completed, these schemes would contribute towards providing better living
standards and generate economic opportunities for the people of the area.

their constituencies.
