Strike in India held-Kashmir Over Arrests

SRINAGAR (IHK): Demonstrators shut down main city of India held-Kashmir on Saturday to protest against the jailing of Kashmiri leaders and alleged damage to a mosque, witnesses said.

Protesters shouted slogans 'Allah-o-Akbar' [God is Great].

Some pelted stones at police, who retaliated with batons, but no injuries were reported.

There have been demonstrations for nearly two weeks against the arrest late last month of four Kashmiri leaders being held in held-Kashmir's second largest city Jammu.●
