Pakistan Export of Precious Stones, Jewellery upto $1.5 Bln by 2017

ISLAMABAD: Exports of precious stones and jewellery is likely to surge to $1.5 billion by 2017.

Pakistan’s exports of precious stones and jewellery is currently valued at only $25 million. A plan is underway for raising it up to $1.5 billion in the next ten years, Geo TV reported.

The Planning Commission has approved the setting up of a gems and jewellery company at a cost of Rs 1.40 billion.

The company, besides providing training for jewellery and precious stones making would also conduct research on latest technology in this sector.●
